Q&A: What percentage of police carry concealed when off duty?

Question by Matt S: What percentage of police carry concealed when off duty?
I read that only about 1-2% of the general public actually carries concealed. I assume this % is greater among police officers. Do you yourself carry off-duty and do you know other cops who DON’T carry off duty? I realize this is an estimate. I have been carrying conceal for 2 years now with a S&W 642 in .38 special.

Most do. Some do not. I would say about 75% based on talking to my friends, some of whom are police.

Does this make you feel like a “big boy” now?

Do you feel all “grown up” with your gun?

I dont think anyone is going to be able to give you an accurate picture of the numbers at all. Unless you conducted a nationwide poll or something..

    Actually, it’s about 5%. Or 1 out of 20.

I carry the same 642 Matt. It’s the SigPro and a mag if I’m going into the city or any other shit hole (Oakland, Richmond, etc.)

I’d say it stands at about 80% of the cops I work with carry 24/7.
